Lucofin® in the automotive industry – "the hidden champion"

The automotive industry places a wide range of demands on thermoplastics. An outstanding advantage of thermoplastics in the automotive industry is their low weight and high design capability. Lucofin® can also be used to add properties that give a component a high level of functionality for use in cables, for example. The introduction of high filling levels enables both electrical conductivity and efficient fire protection to be realised.

Flexibility and design freedom

Lucofin® has exceptionally high flexibility and low-temperature impact strength and can therefore be used in external parts subject to high mechanical loads, such as mud flaps. Thermoplastics Polyolefin copolymers are extremely flexible and offer unrivalled low-temperature impact strength. As a modifier, Lucofin® also gives other polymers significantly improved behaviour in the cold.

Manufacturers can design complex, aerodynamic shapes and ergonomic interiors, enabling the creation of innovative and attractive vehicles. This flexibility also promotes the integration of the latest technologies.

Sustainability and recyclability

At a time when sustainability plays a central role, thermoplastics are the answer to many of these requirements. With the help of Lucofin®, they are fully recyclable (even when mixed), which helps to reduce waste and conserve natural resources.
